Patience...Young Grasshopper... Clearance is Worth the Wait!!!

Patience is something that I would say I have a lot of...and at times too much...long story. Anywho, I can always hold out for something that I want to go on sale and even better...CLEARANCE!!!! I love to shop but the current state of my pocketbook puts limitations and my FUND$! So I wait and I wait and then I wait some more.

All this to say...I fell in love with the Missoni for Target collection as soon as I saw a glimpse of it in the late summer. I knew that I was not gonna rush out to purchase a piece but I did want to take a look at the collection in person. When I went to Target about two days after the collection was in the store, the pickin's were slim to none. :(

Well yesterday was my lucky day! While at Target shopping for household goods (using GREAT Target coupons that were going to expire yesterday, coupled with manufacturers' coupons) I lucked up on this baby...

...for the low price of...DRUM ROLL PLEASE...$11.98...original Retail Price $39.99! I was super excited! I searched the Internet to see if I could find the skirt in other places. Craigslist has the same skirt for $50 and on EBay for as high as $99.99. I must say, I really got a deal! I'll be sure to follow up with how I wear this awesome skirt!

Final October Shades of Pink Week #4

Hey Now! For the final week of the Shades of Pink series, I chose 'Boom Boom' by Sinful Colors Professionals (retails for about $1.99 at Walgreen's) and I must say that is my FAV of all the weeks. This hue is a hot magenta pink with blue undertones and more representative of me! : ) I used three coats and then for a little extra excitement I created an accent nail using Avon's Mosaic Effects Top Coat! Avon's version of 'Crackle' or 'Shatter' gives the same look and effect at a fraction of the cost... a mere $3.99!!

October Shades of Pink Week #3

For the third week of 'Shades of Pink' in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness, I chose a shade that is iridescent, lighter and softer than the previous weeks. This is a color is called "You Just Wait" by Sinful Colors Professionals and here it goes! It is a drastic change as I usually reach for super bright colors or extremely dark colors. What do you think about this shade?

October Shades of Pink Week #2

For my second installment of 'Shades of Pink' in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness, I chose a shade that is a tad bit lighter and softer than last weeks shade. Again this is a color by Avon Nailwear Pro called Peach Passion. However, I think that I added a splash of red to it a while back to darken it up a bit. I am known to play with the colors and mix them up for the desired shade. So here it goes!

Below is last week's color.

October Shades of Pink!!!

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month and all those battling breast cancer and survivors including my mother, I will be painting my nails a different shade of pink each week.  This week I started with Coral Bikini by Avon Nailwear Pro (ANP).  For the price (usually about $2.99), I really like the quality of ANP polish.  With a good topcoat, ANP is goes on easily and is long-lasting!  I know that there are a lot of 'polish snobs' that will only use a certain brand however, if I see a color I like then it does not matter who makes it just as along as I have a good fast-drying top coat such as Seche Vite or INM Out the Door. What do you think?  Also, I will be making pink friendship bracelets for those that I know who are survivors. More info and pictures to come!

Today is a Hard Day

Fifteen years ago today, God blessed me with a beautiful daughter, Simone Asjyana Lanae. While she was only here with me for four short months, those days I remember like yesterday and will cherish for the rest of my life. It is unfortunate that she was taken so soon but our loved one's are only loaned to us for a time before God calls them home. While knowing that does not make this pain I feel any easier to bare, I am blessed to have had the time that I did with her. She is now in a better place with my sister, brother and other family and friends that have been called home to the Lord. Each day, no matter how hard it may seem, is a true blessing and I thank you Lord for each and every day! Rest in peace my angel!

MONEYBALL Review

The hubby and I were lucky enough to attend an advanced screening of Brad Pitt's latest movie "Moneyball".  While I had seen the previews, I had no intentions on going to the theatre to see it.  The movie probably wouldn't have been high and my 'must rent' list either.  However, I am glad that we had the chance to see it.  The movie was very entertaining, funny and sometimes a little emotional (it doesn't take much to get me all worked up...lol) but most importantly it had a message of hope and determination.

Without giving away too much, this movie focuses on having the guts to go against 'the way it's always been done', making tough decisions, standing behind those decisions and dealing with the various consequences. While the story is centered around baseball, everyone can relate to this movie in one way or another.  I recommend all Brad Pitt lovers ; ), baseball fans and those who just like a good movie to check it out.  You'll be glad you did!
