LOVE, PEACE & SOOUUUULLLL!!!!

Today...the first day of Black History month, begins with a great loss. Today the world lost an icon who brought people together from all walks of life through soulful music and dance. Today Don Cornelius was found dead in his home at the age of 75. Cornelius and his hit show, Soul Train, were very instrumental in introducing the world to artist such as James Brown and Aretha Franklin. Many dancers such as Jody Watley, Rosie Perez and more got their start on Soul Train as well. According to the New York Times, Soul Train laid the groundwork for countless dance programs, including current hits like Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance” and MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew.”

I remember watching Soul Train with my sister and brothers, trying to imitate all of the dance moves and let's not forget trying to get hip to the latest fashion trends! Man...those were the good ol' days! This weekend my husband and I caught an episode on Bounce TV (check your local listings) while we were getting ready for my son's basketball game. My lil man was very entertained by the dancers and how they danced and the clothing they wore. "Mom, what are you watching...what are they doing...what is that they're wearing?!?!" LOL!!!

Rest in Peace Mr. Cornelius...thank you for giving us the 'hippest trip in America"!

Until the next time...I wish you all LOVE, PEACE & SOOOUULLLL!!
